End Violence Against Women
EVAW is a leading coalition of specialist women’s support services, researchers, activists, survivors and NGOs working to end violence against women and girls in all its forms.
Established in 2005, EVAW campaign for every level of government to adopt better, more joined up approaches to ending and preventing violence against women and girls, and they challenge the wider cultural attitudes that tolerate and condone this abuse.
Our grant helped:
Part-fund EVAW’s communications and campaigns manager and allow the coalition to keep its profile high at a time when the public debate on violence and abuse is changing fast – in this way, Isla will help EVAW to press its messages home, in particular calling for justice and services for VAWG survivors, plus solid policies for preventing abuse. Priority activities for the comms manager in 2015 include:
■ Media planning and response. EVAW will maintain its high ‘hit rate’ among national
print and broadcast media, and offer an all-hours media response to breaking stories.
■ Media training. Most EVAW members have no media capacity of their own. EVAW
helps out with training sessions, plus off-the-peg tools like template press releases.
■ Direct communications. EVAW will continue to grow its presence via Twitter,
Facebook and e-bulletins to opinion formers.
