Hackney Food Bank

Hackney Foodbank was one of the Foodbanks to receive an emergency grant from The Isla Foundation to enable it to continue its essential work with the Covid 19 outbreak.

Hackney is one of the busiest food banks in London. It fed over 6,000 people in 2018, a quarter of them children, after a spike in demand following the rollout of the Universal Credit scheme.
Demand is increasing again due to covid-19, and this grant will be used to buy and store food, to buy petrol for food delivery vans, and to pay costs associated with adapting the service so it
continues to reach people in most need. Hackney Food Bank is run in partnership with local
churches. It is also part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks and is working with local
networks on the planning and delivery of covid-19 response.
